Breakout Session 2 (12:40)
TBD
The Evolution of SEL and Mental Health Supports in Our Uxbridge Public School District
This session highlights how Uxbridge High School grew small SEL and mental-health ideas into full supports, i.e. a stress management class, a school-based therapy program, a home based classroom for ASD students, universal screeners, biannual Health and Wellness fair, a district mental health advocacy club-(spoiler alert students will be coming to talk to you!). Visuals will be included. We will save some time for you to identify your assets and next steps for sustainable SEL interventions. Objectives: 1. Participants will expand their knowledge of what SEL and trauma informed interventions look like in action, and how a small idea can expand into larger programming opportunities. 2. Participants will be able to identify at least three assets of their current SEL or mental-health practices, celebrating their strengths! 3. Participants will develop one actionable next-step to continue building SEL, needed buy-in by staff, students, families, and/or community, and further assessment to increase SEL and mental-health initiatives.
