Breakout Session 3 (1:55)
TBD
Advancing Sensory Equity in BRYT Programs
This interactive workshop draws from sensory integration and occupational therapy frameworks to explore sensory equity as a foundation for emotional and academic readiness. Participants will learn to support regulation and autonomy by creating sensory-accessible, emotionally attuned BRYT spaces, assessing student needs, implementing targeted design changes, and measuring outcomes using observable indicators. 1. Theoretical Foundations & Sensory Equity By the end of the session, participants will be able to explain at least two key principles from sensory integration and occupational therapy frameworks and describe how a sensory-equity lens promotes emotional and academic readiness by inviting regulation and ensuring equitable access for all BRYT students. 2. Applied Implementation & Measurement By the end of the session, participants will be able to design or adapt one sensory-friendly, emotionally attuned strategy or space within their BRYT program and identify at least one standardized tool or observable indicator for measuring changes in student engagement, regulation, or transition readiness. 3. Equity & Inclusion in Practice By the end of the session, participants will be able to apply sensory regulation practices that make BRYT more inclusive and accessible for neurodiverse students, particularly those with unidentified or atypical presentations, fostering greater belonging and equitable participation in school life.
